Virtual Conference on ” Practical Applications Strategies for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Nursing Education on November 1, 2024, 8:30 am – 12 noon. Submit the registration form by October 25, 2024

Program Description:

This interactive session is meant for any educator interested in exploring the use of artificial intelligence as a teaching strategy to promote the development of clinical judgment, information literacy, and technology proficiency within nursing education.  Key concepts pertaining to responsible use of technology and respective policy implications are explored. Practical applications such as case study development, item writing, rubric creation, and simulation delivery are among the strategies discussed throughout the session.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss key terms and definitions related to the use of Artificial Intelligence in educational settings.
  2. Discuss the alignment of traditional learning theories with use of Artificial Intelligence in nursing education.
  3. Explore Artificial Intelligence as a teaching strategy to cultivate clinical judgment, information literacy, and technology proficiency within nursing education.
  4. Modify an existing assessment, teaching strategy, or learning activity through the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence.

Conference Presenter:

Christa Steffens, EdD, RN, CNE, is an ATI Nursing Education Consultant.  She earned her ADN from Eastern Iowa Community College, her BSN from the University of Iowa, and her EdD from Allen College in Waterloo, IA.  Dr. Steffens has been a registered nurse for over 20 years and an educator since 2007. She has served in administrative and faculty positions within ADN, BSN, ABSN, and MSN programs. Her clinical background includes correctional, forensic, and critical care nursing.  Dr. Steffens’ areas of expertise include concept-based and traditional curriculum development, curricular integration of technology, program assessment and evaluation, and faculty development. Her current scholarly activity includes presentation work surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in nursing education and digitally differentiated instructional strategies for nurse educators.
